THERE was a real feast for the eyes and ears at one of Hayling’s biggest annual fetes.
The Three Churches Fete at Hayling Park, which is in its 15th year, played host to entertainment and stalls of every variety. Performers included ballerinas and a magic act.
Steven Schrier, one of the organisers, said: ‘We had about 2,000 people attend.
‘It’s such a good event and it’s important for Hayling as it shows how proud the churches are of the community.’
The Rev Ann Leonard, from St Peter’s Church, opened the event and the day was attended by Havant Mayor Gerald Shimbart.

He said: ‘It’s wonderful to see so many people and it brings the community out to have a good day.’
Teresa Griffin, 60, from Emsworth, was the leader of the Egyptian belly dance group, which is pictured on the front page.
She said: ‘We were excited to perform at the fete, it’s something we do every year and anyone can join in – there’s only one member of our group who’s under 50!’
Families from across Hayling turned out to enjoy the day.
Mum Natasha Pamott, 33, from Hayling, said: ‘It’s in our calendar every year and it was really nice to watch my daughter dance as she was part of the Hayling Dance Academy performance.’
Jo Bowen, 36, from Hayling, said: ‘We’ve been so lucky with the weather and the carnival has finished so this is a good way to get everyone together again.’
Proceeds from the fete will go to a fund for the three churches, St Mary’s, St Peter’s and St Andrew’s. Last year £13,000 was raised.
