Fire station doors swing open to public

HAYLING Island Fire Station will be opening its doors this weekend for a day of fun and fire safety.

The station's annual open day will take place on Saturday, (August 21) and provides Islanders with the chance to visit their fire station to gain an insight into the many varied activities firefighters undertake.

The open day takes place between 10am and 4pm, and will include entertainment for children as well as fire and rescue demonstrations.

Refreshments and snacks will be on sale along with merchandise - all monies raised will be going to charities.

There will be short displays throughout the day on fire and road safety by the station crews and a variety of stalls together with plenty of activities on site to keep younger visitors entertained.

Firefighters will also be showcasing equipment used to help keep Hayling and the surrounding area safe on a daily basis.
