Fire crews help Izabelle's dream

FIREFIGHTERS on Hayling Island have been touched by the plight of two-year-old Izabelle Evans – who needs pioneering stem cell treatment in the hope of gaining some sight.

All station personnel turned out for the charity car wash held at Mill Rythe, last month.

The proceeds were split between the Isabella appeal (283.30), the Fire-fighters charity (283.30) and a donation to the school (50), to Isabella and to the fire-fighters charity.

The total raised during the day came to 616.60 as fire-fighters used their high pressure hoses to get customers' cars really clean.

Crew member Dave Samways, who organised the car wash, said: "We would like to thank NMA Car Sales for their donation of 100.

"Also thank you to Hayling Hardware for donating the buckets, Motorcare Centre for their contribution of the cleaning materials.

"Without the help and generosity of all the people of Hayling we would not be able to hold these events at all."

Izabelle's dad James said: "When we started this we had no idea how long it would take or how we would do it.

"It is an exciting, happy time for the family as Izabelle has just learned to stand up on her own and went for her first swim with her mum and dad last month."
