Consultation on flooding

PEOPLE who have been affected by flooding are being given an opportunity to have their say on how the problem can be managed better.

Hampshire County Council is inviting comments on a new scheme called the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy.

This looks at how the authorities and water companies can prevent flooding from surface water, groundwater, streams and ditches.

The county council is holding a six-week consultation and needs to find out the flooding hotspots in each area.

A drop-in session is being held at Emsworth Community Centre, in Church Path, on Thursday, October 4 from 5pm to 8pm.

People will be able to view documents and talk through any concerns.

The scheme does not relate to coastal flooding as this is dealt with by the Environment Agency.
