Con couple to repay a fraction of profits

A COUPLE who fleeced a company out of more than £55,000 have been ordered to pay back some of the money they stole.

Sara Dedman and Tyron Leworthy were jailed earlier this year for the scam involving Willstrand Ltd, an Eastleigh-based recycling company.

A third person, Sarah Hocking, was given a community sentence for her part in the con.

Now the three have been back in court and ordered to pay up some of their money.

A judge at Portsmouth Crown Court ordered Leworthy to pay £3,101, Dedman £140 and Hocking £2,315.

Dedman was the trusted bookkeeper for Willstrand Ltd.

But she used her position to siphon off thousands of pounds for herself, her partner Leworthy and colleague Hocking.

Between them, the three stole £55,856 from the company, which is owned by Martin Ashworth.

The court heard Dedman had transferred money to their accounts and forged her boss’s signature on cheques.

Leworthy received just over £28,000, Dedman £14,000 and Hocking £13,700, between October 2010 and November last year.

Leworthy, 34, of Eastoke Avenue, Hayling Island, was jailed for a year in April after pleading guilty to aiding and abetting fraud, theft and concealing criminal property.

Dedman, 34, of the same address, was jailed for 16 months after confessed to aiding and abetting fraud and concealing criminal property.

Hocking, 37, of Blendworth Crescent, Havant, received a six-month sentence suspended for a year after pleading guilty to theft and concealing criminal property.
