A CELEBRATION of England will come to Hayling seafront next month.
The final preparations are being made for Summer Hayling for St George, when hundreds of people are expected to gather at Eastoke to listen to music and enjoy the patriotic atmosphere.
Fine weather is being prayed for as the event in April had to be called off because of stormy weather.
Hayling councillor Leah Turner has spent months organising the event and is hoping this year will be bigger and better than ever.
She is keen for people from across the area to visit and enjoy Hayling’s seafront.
Cllr Turner said: ‘After the disappointment when Hayling for St George was postponed from April 27 beause of bad weather, we are happy to announce that Summer Hayling for St George is coming on Sunday, August 3.
‘The flags will be flying and bunting decorating the Eastoke Plaza, as we celebrate St George’s Day, albeit a little late, with the best of English entertainment by the seaside.’
The fun takes place from midday to 5pm at Eastoke Plaza. Cllr Turner added: ‘With music from the 1900s up until the 1970s, there’s something for everyone at our free event.
‘Out of the Shadows tribute band, The Langstone Big Band and Georges Regis Jazz Band are all playing, helping us to collect money for The Lions Club of Hayling Island.’
