Real ale festival returns to Hayling Island

HAYLING’S annual real ale and cider festival returns next month – and is set to be bigger than ever.

The focus as always will be providing the very best of beer and cider from the local area with a few brews from further afield.

Hayling Island Community Centre, in Station Road, will be the venue for Ale-ing Festival on October 5 and 6.

Organiser Rod Carter said: ‘This event is proving to be more popular every year with over 600 happy customers last year and a sell out on Saturday night.

‘We are anticipating another marvellous weekend of quality beers, ciders and entertainment.’

Music this year on the Friday night is by newly-formed local band Velvet Lips.

On Saturday people will be rocking the house once again with The Trevor John Band.

On Saturday afternoon there will be a ‘Strictly Beer Session’ for those people who want to enjoy their beer in peace. The event is organised and run by members of the Hayling Island-Gorron Twinning Association and is supported by many local islanders and businesses.

Tickets for the evening sessions are £7.50 in advance and £9 on the door. Tickets for the Saturday afternoon sessions are £4 in advance and £5 on the door.

Advance tickets include a commemorative beer glass, a programme with tasting notes and a glass of beer or cider. Visit ale-ingfest.co.uk.
