Ferry between Hayling and Portsmouth cancelled

CROSSINGS between Hayling Island and Portsmouth have been cancelled due to an electrical fault on the ferry.

Operators Hayling Ferry Ltd discovered a problem this morning and was forced to suspend services until the cause is detected.

The firm is waiting for an electrician to check over the ferry and has arranged alternative transport for school children.

It hopes services will be running as normal by this afternoon.

Bruce Cremer, from Hayling Ferry Ltd, said: ‘I’ve looked over the ship and can’t work out what the problem is, so we’ve called in an electrician.

‘We’re not sure how long it will take to get it fixed, but we hope to have services back on as soon as we can.’
