THE public will get the chance to see the proposals for the Hayling Seafront Masterplan, exclusively revealed in last month's Hayling Islander, at a series of public exhibitions in July and August.
The Masterplan provides an exciting vision for the future for the Island's seafront and is being launched in the year of the 50th anniversary of windsurfing's invention on Hayling.

The proposals include a new watersports centre at West Beach, a tourist development with restaurants, shops, accommodation and public plaza at Beachlands and a new café and play area at Eastoke Corner.

Havant Borough Council has organised five different exhibitions throughout July and part of August where the scheme will be explained. Residents and visitors will be encouraged to view them and fill in a questionnaire with their comments.

The exhibition will be held for all six weeks in the Hayling Library, in Mengham, from July 4 – August 1, during normal opening hours.

It will be manned by HBC planning staff, who will be available to answer questions, on July 15 and 22, between 11am and 1pm.

The plans will also be on display on Thursdays between 11am and 2pm at the following locations:
July 10 - West Town, Station Road near Tesco Express
July 17 – Mengham Shopping Centre entrance adjacent to Somerfield
July 24 - Central Beachlands outside Tourist Information Centre
July 31 - Eastoke Corner car park, off Seafront - adjacent to play area

The permanent exhibition will move to the Civic Offices foyer in Havant, from August 4-18.

The consultation process will involve considering the public feedback, refining the proposals and, adopting the Hayling Seafront Masterplan as a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) – to guide future developments along the seafront in future.

The draft document and consultation questionnaire can also be viewed on line at www.havant.gov.uk/havant-8717 from July 4.

The consultation period ends at 4pm on August 18.
