MAY I express my sincere thanks to all those who have written, emailed and telephoned their congratulations for our sell-out Gala Event at the Station Theatre on April 11.
The Discover Hayling team are clearly delighted that their efforts are appreciated, and look forward to bigger and better things in the future.

Our joint effort with the HIADS Players shows what we can all achieve for the Island, when we work toge
ther as a community.

It's important to underline the Discover Hayling group's role as a conduit, through which information and imagery from our past can be made accessible to everyone.

A prime example is the Home Guard photograph sourced by Noel Pycroft, which we intend to feature on the Hayling Forum and also in the Library soon.

Let's hope we can identify the full company by the end of the year.

We have also had a super response from Joy Lawrence who has given us photographs, plus a supporting Hampshire Telegraph article, featuring her father, as a young Home Guard private in F Company Central Platoon, dated March 28. 1941.

She has also shown us an intriguing photograph of the Hayling Air Raid Warden unit, complete with uniformed lady commandant!

Finally may I ask everyone to support our Stocks Appeal Raffle, so that we can make this light-hearted venture another success for the Island.
