CONGRATULATIONS to all those concerned with arranging the first Playing on the Plaza event at Eastoke Corner on May 4.
Although the music, quite understandably, was not to everyone's liking (I myself am over 60) it was good to see old and young alike sitting around enjoying the free show.

Two of the bands, Four Fingers and Rusty Strings, were from Hayling, while the third was from Havant.

The youngsters were enjoying the music while the older members of the audience (some of them anyway) were enjoying the atmosphere, while partaking of a glass of wine.

Once again well done to the organisers and I'm looking forward to the next music at the Plaza.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Hear, hear Colin. There have now been two concerts in May and I have heard nothing but good feedback.

The Hayling's BEST group's various initiatives such as Discover Hayling and the Scarecrow Festival are making great strides in breathing new life into our community - and the Islander is very keen to back them.

Surely one of the best ways for us all to enjoy a prosperous and happy life here on Hayling is to support such ventures, bringing income and jobs via visitors, and having social activities that don't require people to leave the Island and spend their money elsewhere all the time.
