Mothballs, not snakes, are way to give cats kittens!

THANK you Ida Edwards – Very nasty danger lurking in gardens, Islander Letters, June - for confirming that cat faeces is dangerous and most unwelcome in our gardens.
But how do we prevent it being deposited in the first place?
Well-known, easily-purchased products in the form of pellets, powder, etc., have all proved, after a short time, useless.
Even an electric contraption which emitted a buzz as the cat approached, and which I used in my previous garden, did not deter a rather handsome tom cat – in fact quite the reverse – I think he got quite a buzz from it himself!
However my present neighbour informed me that cats do not like snakes (neither do I).
Eventually I found a toy wooden snake in Clovelly, Devon, and with great confidence, strategically placed some among the various plants in my garden.
However, Hayling cats are not stupid – they still continued to "enjoy" my available top soil.
What now? Once again my friend and neighbour to the rescue - mothballs (crushed).
Result: Lack of cat faeces – positive
Ozone layer along the promenade – different
