A NEW chemist would be most welcome. We are both in our 80s and have lived on the Island for 21 years. We have both needed regular prescriptions.
In the past our experiences have seen us have to wait for a whole week for prescriptions to be read, and going from chemist to chemist on the Island for a simple thing like oval paracetamols.

They had all run out of the same commodity at the same time. This was of importance to us at the time, having a dear daughter-in-law with cancer, and she was unable to swallow other shapes of tablets.

We had to go into Boots in Havant. We found it much easier to go into Boots or even as far as Portsmouth if we need a prescription made up in a hurry.

Lloyds have so many complaints from people complaining about the time we have to wait. They once had a sign up saying "Let us save you time" in fact they cost us two or three and even four trips to get one prescription filled.
My husband suggested that they took the sign down, and they have now removed it.

So yes, I do think we need a bit of competition.
