Needs a good clean. Always feels tacky, dark and sticky. Outdoor furniture needs ckeaning and maintenance. Staff are not especially friendly or helpful. Children not welcomed inside pub. Beer prices are not cheap.

Ordered two blue rump steaks which came out perfect! timothy taylor was excellent and washed the dust off the tonsils ! Highly recommend the rump steak and chips. Plenty of other choices on the real ales.

I have visited Hayling Island with my wife and two dogs for short breaks a number of times over the past few years and we always eat in the Yew Tree. We have always found the food excellent with plenty of choice. I recommend the lamb chops and occasionally they have plum crumble, where else do you find that on a menu. Well behaved dogs are also allowed so not a problem with worrying about what to do with them. Simon

The pub itself is fine but AVOID THE FOOD. My partner's dish was cold, then when it came back reheated he found a shard of plastic in it.
I suspect this is partly because there are about 40 different dishes on the menu and looking at the size of the kitchen there is no way on earth they could adequately cater for everything they're offering. Even so there is no excuse for plastic in food.

Myself and my wife spent a long weekend camping on hayling island near the yew tree inn and spent our drinking time in the yew tree. We found this to be a very charming country style pub with a spacious garden with various animals and treehouse and slide for the kids. we ate in the pub on two occasions and found the food to be very tasty indeed and the portions were plentiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful and i wouldnt hesitate to return to this pub in the future and would reccommend it to anyone who happens to pass. PS the only downside was possibly the little man and his friend with a stupid laugh at the end of the bar who made sure everyone heard and saw them. then walking home i noticed the little man was stopping on the campsite i was on. good job i didnt have to stay next door to them really otherwise i would have chosen to go somewhere else. .

I went here in June 2007, and the service was friendly but lacked common sense; at the age of 21, I was asked for ID by a boy younger than myself.
The pub is large inside and comfortable enough. Prices were a little on the pricey side, compared even with London where I was living at the time.
The food was somewhere between ok and good. I didn’t have any problems finishing what was on my plate but it wasn’t the greatest I had ever tasted.
The reason I visited at all was that it was the only place near where I was staying on a work trip, and the accommodation I was in did not cater in the evenings. If there had been any other pubs nearby, I would have gone. There was another pub further along the road but as I was on foot and it was a precarious walk along a narrow, winding road without pavements in some areas, I felt it best to stay near.
