A WOMAN was found alive two days after her car plunged down an embankment in the Peak District yesterday.
Helen Sykes, 46, went off the road on Sunday afternoon after going out alone for a drive. The car was found two-thirds down a steep 200ft grass embankment.
A farmer reported seeing her car below Longstone Edge yesterday afternoon and mountain rescue teams were called.
Mrs Sykes, from Dronfield, near Sheffield, was taken by air ambulance to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre with non-life threatening injuries.
Edale mountain rescue team leader Ian Bunting said: "She was obviously shaken but she was doing very well considering everything."
Almost 20 rescuers, including some from Buxton Mountain Rescue and Edale Mountain Rescue, were involved. Mr Bunting said there had been a lot of rain over the last few days but he could not speculate whether that caused the accident.
